Job Title: Registered Manager – Children’s Residential (EBD)

Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Basildon, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for the service, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and fostering a nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily management of the children’s residential home in Basildon, ensuring all operations comply with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Maintain high standards of care to achieve or sustain a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating, leading all inspections and quality assurance processes.
- Recruit, mentor, and supervise a dedicated team, promoting a trauma-informed, professional culture with regular appraisals.
- Manage referrals and occupancy levels in collaboration with Local Authorities, ensuring admissions support the therapeutic environment.
- Act as the safeguarding lead, implementing robust risk assessments and protection policies.
- Oversee the service budget, resource allocation, and staffing rotas to ensure sustainability and quality of care.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, social workers, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children’s residential setting.
- In-depth knowledge of the SCCIF, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing challenging behaviour through positive, therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, for reporting and multi-agency meetings.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
