Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Basildon, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This role offers a chance to join a growing organisation that prioritises therapeutic care and strives for outstanding outcomes. The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for the service, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and fostering a nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily management of the children’s residential home in Basildon, ensuring all operations comply with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Maintain high standards of care to achieve or sustain a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating, leading all inspections and quality assurance processes.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise a dedicated team, promoting a trauma-informed, professional culture with regular appraisals.
  • Manage referrals and occupancy levels in collaboration with Local Authorities, ensuring admissions support the therapeutic environment.
  • Act as the safeguarding lead, implementing robust risk assessments and protection policies.
  • Oversee the service budget, resource allocation, and staffing rotas to ensure sustainability and quality of care.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, social workers, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a children’s residential setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SCCIF, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing challenging behaviour through positive, therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, for reporting and multi-agency meetings.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
