Job Title: Children’s Home Manager (Night Shift) – Residential Care for Young People

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Children’s Home Manager to lead the night-shift operations within a specialist mental health residential service for young people aged 12–18. This Children’s Home Manager role in Newmarket, Suffolk, offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager looking to step into a management position or an established manager seeking a focused night-shift leadership role. The Children’s Home Manager in this position will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing environment during the night, supporting young people with complex mental health needs, and leading a team of night staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the night-shift operations of the children’s home, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people with emotional and social difficulties.
- Utilize knowledge of the Mental Health Act and trauma-informed care to support children effectively.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of night staff, fostering professional growth and team cohesion.
- Ensure all activities during the night comply with quality standards, legislation, and safeguarding policies.
- Support the Head of Service with budget management, resource planning, and strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential care for children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential).
- Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and managing challenging behaviour.
- Full UK Driving Licence is required.
