Children’s Home Manager
Location: Ilminster, Somerset
Salary: Up to £53,664 + up £10,000 performance related bonus
Job Description:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Home Manager to oversee the daily operations of a children’s residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in social care management to lead a team, ensure compliance with legislation, and promote the welfare and safeguarding of young people. The Children’s Home Manager will play a key role in delivering high standards of care, supporting staff development, and managing budgets effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the residential home on a day-to-day basis, ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and safeguarding policies.
- Lead and support a team of approximately 14 staff, fostering a positive and professional working environment.
- Liaise with external agencies, social workers, and other professionals to coordinate care plans and support services for young people.
- Oversee the development and implementation of individual care plans, promoting rehabilitation and community integration.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide support outside of normal working hours.
- Support staff supervision, training, and development to maintain high standards of care and compliance.
- Assist in budget planning, management, and control to meet financial targets.
- Ensure health and safety standards are maintained and promote a positive safety culture within the home.
- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and ensure the home’s practices reflect current requirements.
Requirements:
- A professional social work qualification, QCF level 5 or working towards it.
- Substantial managerial experience within a similar environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role in care settings.
- Minimum of 2 years’ residential care experience.
- Full driving licence.
- Experience in project planning, monitoring, and reviewing.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and the ability to interpret financial data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
