Job Description

Registered Manager (Children’s Residential) required for a growing residential childcare provider in Exeter, Devon (East Devon area). You’ll lead a brand-new, high-specification 5-bed children’s home for young people aged 7–17, shaping a therapeutic, restorative culture from day one while guiding the service through Ofsted pre-registration.

Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential) based in Exeter, your daily duties will include:

Leading the Ofsted pre-registration process and maintaining ongoing compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards in Exeter, Devon.
Building a nurturing, emotionally safe environment rooted in therapeutic parenting and restorative practice (not an institutional approach).
Recruiting, developing, and mentoring a new staff team, embedding consistent practice and strong leadership routines.
Implementing robust operational systems, including administration, rota oversight, and sustainable budget management.
Embedding PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and trauma-informed care, using staffing ratios effectively to manage complex behaviours safely.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful as a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential), you will need:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a proven track record with willingness to work towards it.
Proven senior/management experience within a children’s residential home setting.
A resilient, trauma-informed approach and commitment to therapeutic practice.
Strong organisation, time management, and administrative capability with confident business oversight.
Enhanced DBS check and thorough pre-employment references (mandatory).
