Job Description
Registered Manager (Children’s Residential EBD) required for a specialist children’s home in Wantage, Oxfordshire. This is an opportunity to lead a nurturing, stable service supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), with a clear focus on quality, safeguarding, and achieving Outstanding outcomes.
You’ll take ownership of day-to-day operations, develop a resilient team culture, and embed therapeutic, trauma-informed practice across the home.
Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential EBD) based in Wantage, your daily duties will include:
- Acting as the Ofsted Registered Manager, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards.
- Leading, supervising, and developing a multidisciplinary team, promoting trauma-informed and child-centred practice.
- Driving quality assurance, safeguarding, and audit readiness, maintaining a consistent safety-first culture within the Wantage home.
- Building effective working relationships with local authorities and placing teams to support cohesive care planning and positive placement stability.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential EBD), you will need:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or nearing completion).
- Proven management experience within a children’s residential EBD setting.
- Strong knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework, with evidence of positive regulatory outcomes.
- A calm, grounded leadership style with the ability to manage complex day-to-day residential care challenges.
