Job Description:
The Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD) role is an opportunity to lead a children’s home in Reading, Berkshire and drive meaningful outcomes for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Working for our client, you’ll shape a therapeutic, high-performing service with a clear focus on achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD) based in Reading, your daily duties will include:
- Providing strong, values-led leadership to develop a stable, skilled team and positive home culture in Reading
- Ensuring full compliance with Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, safeguarding standards, and internal policies
- Leading quality assurance, audits, and improvement plans to progress the service towards Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
- Implementing and embedding therapeutic approaches that support young people with EBD to thrive
- Managing staffing, rotas, supervision, training, and performance to maintain safe and consistent care
- Overseeing referrals, admissions, and placement planning to ensure the home meets young people’s needs
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD), you will need:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Proven experience in a supervisory/management role within a children’s residential EBD setting
- Strong working knowledge of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted frameworks
- Commitment to safeguarding and the ability to lead a compliant, high-quality service (pre-employment checks will apply)
