Job Description
A Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD) opportunity is available in Reading, Berkshire, supporting high-quality children’s residential services for young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a leadership role for an experienced manager ready to drive outcomes, compliance, and a therapeutic culture across a well-supported home environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD) based in Reading, your daily duties will include:
- Acting as the Registered Person, ensuring the home meets all Quality Standards and regulatory requirements.
- Leading, recruiting, developing, and mentoring a high-performing staff team to deliver consistent, child-centred care.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for vulnerable young people in Reading, Berkshire.
- Building strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, and external professionals to support placement stability and progress.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Registered Manager (Children’s Residential – EBD), you will need:
- NVQ/Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or near completion).
- Proven experience managing or supervising within a children’s residential EBD setting.
- Expert working knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and inspection readiness.
- A track record of achieving (or driving towards) Ofsted ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcomes.
