Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential home in Reading, Berkshire. This vital role involves overseeing the delivery of high-quality care services for children and young people, ensuring compliance with legislation, and providing strong leadership to the team. The successful candidate will be committed to achieving positive outcomes for young residents and maintaining the highest standards of childcare.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Registered Manager based in Reading, Berkshire, your daily duties will include:
- Managing the residential home to ensure efficient operation in line with relevant legislation, policies, and the Statement of Purpose.
- Providing effective leadership and motivating staff to deliver outstanding care and support.
- Developing and implementing care plans tailored to the needs of each child or young person.
- Supervising staff, organising training, and conducting performance reviews to promote professional development.
- Managing budgets and resources to ensure value for money and operational efficiency.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and regulatory standards, including Ofsted requirements.
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and external agencies to support the young people’s well-being.
- Leading service development initiatives to improve care quality and outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Registered Manager, you will need:
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) or equivalent.
- Significant experience working in a residential setting with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behaviours.
- Proven leadership skills, including managing teams and budgets effectively.
- Strong knowledge of the Children Act, Children’s Homes Regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to motivate staff and build effective partnerships.
- Relevant pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS.
