Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead a therapeutic care facility in Chippenham, Wiltshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children by providing trauma-informed, personalised care within a supportive and professional environment. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the home’s operation, ensuring high standards of safeguarding, emotional nurturing, and therapeutic support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop bespoke therapeutic care packages for children, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
  • Lead and supervise the staff team, fostering a nurturing, reflective, and trauma-informed working environment.
  • Ensure the home exceeds standards set out in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and other statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate staff rotas, ensuring adequate cover and emergency support, including participation in out-of-hours on-call duties.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision, and ongoing training of staff to maintain high-quality, empathetic care.
  • Promote strong relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies to support positive outcomes.
  • Lead the implementation of the Integrated Therapeutic Plan, ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded in daily practice.
  • Maintain accurate records, statutory paperwork, and ensure the home’s Statement of Purpose reflects therapeutic principles.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, including fire safety, medication management, and premises maintenance.
  • Manage budgets and control administrative processes in line with company policies.
  • Participate in staff wellbeing initiatives and promote a positive team culture.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Residential Children’s Social Care, with at least one year in a management or supervisory role.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people, ideally within a residential setting.
  • Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Care, PACE, and therapeutic placement standards.
  • Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards this qualification within two years.
  • Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Children Act 1989, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.
  • Ability to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.
  • Clear DBS check and positive references.
  • Resilient, empathetic, organised, and capable of managing challenging situations with a nurturing approach.
