Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Children’s Home Manager to lead a therapeutic children’s home in Chippenham. The Children’s Home Manager will oversee all aspects of the home’s operation, ensuring high standards of safeguarding, therapeutic practice, and compliance with relevant legislation. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a high-quality therapeutic care service for children in the home.
- Ensure compliance with Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and all relevant legislation.
- Lead, supervise, and support staff to deliver trauma-informed, nurturing care.
- Promote strong relationships with children, families, and external agencies.
- Oversee staff recruitment, induction, training, and supervision.
- Coordinate staff rotas, ensuring effective resource management and out-of-hours support.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure statutory documentation reflects therapeutic practice.
- Lead reflective practice and promote team wellbeing and resilience.
- Manage budgets, health and safety, and all operational procedures.
- Participate in recruitment, disciplinary, and staff development processes.
- Lead the implementation of the integrated therapeutic plan and monitor children’s progress.
- Ensure the home exceeds all standards set by regulatory bodies and promotes a positive, inclusive environment.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children in social care, with at least 1 year in a senior or management role.
- Proven experience in residential children’s social care and understanding of trauma-informed care.
- Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation.
- Ability to pass an Ofsted Fit Person Interview.
- Full UK manual driving license.
- DBS clearance and positive references.
- Resilient, empathetic, and organized with a passion for making a difference.
Desirable:
- Experience with therapeutic models such as PACE or attachment-based approaches.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality assurance systems.
- Additional qualifications in health and social care or leadership.
