Children’s Home Manager – Nights

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Children's Home Manager to lead night-shift operations within a specialist mental health residential service in Newmarket. This role is a perfect "step up" for an experienced Residential Deputy Manager or an established leader with a background in mental health care.
The service supports young people aged 12–18 with complex mental health needs, including those at risk of self-injurious behaviours. You will lead the night team to ensure the safety, stability, and well-being of residents, working closely with the Head of Service to achieve the objectives of the home's Statement of Purpose.

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (DOE).

Welcome Bonus: £5,000 bonus paid upon registration.

Contract: Permanent, Full-time.

Schedule: 3–4 night shifts per week.
Key Responsibilities and Duties

Night-Shift Leadership: Oversee the management of the home during night hours, ensuring all care delivered meets the specific needs of young people with mental illness.

Management Support: Assist the Head of Service in facilitating the wider needs of the site and achieving regulatory objectives.

Clinical Awareness: Apply knowledge of the Mental Health Act and trauma-informed practices to support residents experiencing acute emotional distress.

Compliance: Ensure the home remains compliant with The Quality Standards, SCCIF, and all relevant childcare legislation during the night.

Operational Skills: Efficiently handle planning, resource allocation, and team leadership to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.

Staff Mentoring: Lead and empower the night team, promoting a culture of professional development and exceptional care.
Essential Requirements

Experience: At least 2 years in a children's residential care setting, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.

Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Care is essential.

Specialist Knowledge: A strong understanding of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (EBD), including the management of challenging behaviours.

Skills: Excellent professional communication (written and spoken) and proficiency in budget and resource management.

Licence: A Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Registration Note: This specific role assists in management and does not hold the primary registration for the home.
