Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is seeking a dedicated Children’s Home Manager to oversee night-shift operations within a mental health residential service in Newmarket. This Children’s Home Manager role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced residential managers or leaders with a background in mental health care to step into a senior position. The Children’s Home Manager – Nights will be responsible for ensuring the safety, stability, and well-being of young residents aged 12–18 with complex mental health needs, including those at risk of self-injurious behaviours. Working closely with the senior management team, the Children’s Home Manager will lead the night team to deliver high-quality care aligned with regulatory standards and the home's Statement of Purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee night-shift operations, ensuring all care meets the specific needs of young people with mental health challenges
- Support the Head of Service in achieving regulatory compliance and operational objectives
- Apply trauma-informed practices and knowledge of the Mental Health Act to support residents in emotional distress
- Ensure the home remains compliant with The Quality Standards, SCCIF, and relevant legislation during night hours
- Lead, mentor, and develop the night team to promote a culture of professional growth and exceptional care
- Manage planning, resource allocation, and team coordination to maintain a safe environment
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
- Strong understanding of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties (EBD)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Proficiency in budget and resource management
- Full UK Driving Licence is required
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours and trauma-informed care
