Job Title: Residential Childcare Worker – Children’s Support Worker – EBD Support Role in North Devon
Location: North Devon, Devon, UK
Salary: £27,540 per annum (inclusive of sleeps, with overtime opportunities)
Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a dedicated Residential Childcare Worker to join a forward-thinking, caring children’s residential home in North Devon. Our client is a leading specialist provider committed to supporting children with trauma backgrounds and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This role offers the chance to work in a nurturing environment where young people aged 8-16 are supported to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. If you are experienced, resilient, and ready to provide meaningful support, this is the perfect next step in your career within children’s social care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to engage in activities and take responsibility for their own development, tailored to their age.
- Maintain a warm, homely, and inclusive environment that promotes safety and well-being.
- Safely manage challenging behaviours with empathy and understanding.
- Protect young people from risks to their health and welfare at all times.
- Support independence and promote positive life skills.
- Keep up-to-date with care plans, guidelines, and communication preferences for each young person.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people’s lives, including psychologists.
- Maintain a safe environment, ensuring compliance with all safeguarding policies.
Requirements:
- Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or in a related social care setting is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working with young people with EBD or in healthcare settings is advantageous.
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential, with the ability to transport young people as needed.
- Must be over 24 years of age.
- Ability to commute between Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, and surrounding areas.
What We Offer:
- A caring employer who values and supports their staff as much as their young people.
- Fully funded opportunity to obtain QCF Level 4 in Children & Young People.
- Personal own room with bedding provided.
- 28 days annual leave.
- Comprehensive training including face-to-face CPD sessions.
- Opportunities to enhance earnings and career progression.
- Enhanced disclosure cost coverage.
- Supportive, hands-on leadership from directors involved in daily operations.
If you’re passionate about supporting young people with EBD and want to kick-start or develop your career in health and social care, this is the ideal role for you!
