Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

Job Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Level 3/4 Qualified Residential Support Worker to join a friendly, family-orientated organisation dedicated to supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). We are expanding with a second registered EBD Children's Home opening in the local area.

This role requires resilience, patience, and good parental values to help young people navigate their life journey and reach their full potential socially, emotionally, and academically.

  • Salary: Estimated earnings from £29,692.50 to £37,935 per year.

  • Qualified Rate: £13.75 per hour (Unqualified rate: £12.25 per hour).

  • Sleep-in Rate: £60 per night.

  • Hours: Basic contracted hours are 37.5 per week. Extra shifts and sleep-ins are regularly available as overtime.

  • Contract: Full-time, Permanent.

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be over 22 years of age.


     

    Your Role and Responsibilities

    As a Qualified Residential Support Worker, you will be integral in protecting and safeguarding the welfare, growth, and development of all children and young people in our care.

    • Direct Support: Follow a structured daily routine, supporting young people to make positive choices, learn healthy habits, attend school and appointments, and participate in a wide range of activities.

    • Household Duties: Complete essential household tasks and assist young people with education.

    • Record Keeping: Ensure all records and documentation are accurate and up-to-date.

    • Role Modelling: Be a professional, well-presented, and positive role model who is down-to-earth, empathetic, and non-judgemental.


     

    Required Skills and Experience

    • Qualification: commitment to work towards the Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is required. (NVQ Level 3 qualification would be great!).

    • Experience: 1 year's experience of working within children's residential care work (preferred).

    • Driving: Must drive and have a clean driving licence.

    • Flexibility: Able to work varying shifts, including required sleep-ins.

    • Core Skills: Good levels of numeracy and literacy (Level 2 or above), excellent communication and social skills, and good IT skills.

    • Qualities: Passionate, positive, motivated, and committed to the safeguarding of young people.
