Shift Pattern: 2 Days On, 4 Days Off (Includes Sleep-ins)


Job Overview

Are you looking for a role where you can empower adolescents and help them build the resilience needed to achieve their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our team in Colchester.

Working with young people up to the age of 18, you will play a vital role in building their confidence and life skills within a safe and supportive environment. This role is perfect for a proactive individual who wants to make a tangible difference while developing a deep understanding of Therapeutic Child Care.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Relationship Building: Establish positive, trusting relationships with residents to support their emotional and social development.

  • Daily Support: Facilitate daily routines, including supporting education, preparing meals, and engaging in recreational activities.

  • Behaviour Management: Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies.

  • Documentation: Maintain high standards of record-keeping, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident forms.

  • Nurturing Environment: Ensure the home remains a safe and secure space, participating in household tasks such as cooking and cleaning.

  • Flexible Working: Commit to a 2-on, 4-off rota, which provides a unique work-life balance while ensuring continuity of care for the young people.


Essential Requirements

  • Licence: A Full UK Driving Licence is strictly required for this position.

  • Age & Checks: Must be able to pass an Enhanced DBS check.

  • Attributes: A proactive, energetic attitude with a passion for being a positive role model for young people.

  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Right to Work: Please note, we do not offer sponsorship at this time.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field.

  • Experience in a residential care setting.
