Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Worker to join a leading specialist provider committed to delivering high-quality care for children and young people aged eight to sixteen years. Key Responsibilities:
- Recognise, respond to, record, and refer safeguarding concerns in line with policies.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people at all times.
- Work in accordance with individual risk assessments and behavioural support plans.
- Use therapeutic parenting techniques, including Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE).
- Develop and maintain healthy relationships with children and young people.
- Support children and young people to develop resilience, independence, and life skills.
- Promote inclusion, equality, and diversity within the home environment.
- Support children and young people with their routines, education, and interests.
- Contribute to the creation of a safe, homely, and stimulating environment.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and care plans.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding policies.
- Support the home’s environment through cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Manage incidents and de-escalation techniques, including safe restraint when necessary.
- Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the home and its residents.
Requirements:
- Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification (or willingness to attain).
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a care setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
- A caring, empathetic, and professional attitude.
