Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Care Worker to join a leading specialist provider committed to delivering high-quality care for children and young people aged eight to sixteen years. Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognise, respond to, record, and refer safeguarding concerns in line with policies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people at all times.
  • Work in accordance with individual risk assessments and behavioural support plans.
  • Use therapeutic parenting techniques, including Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE).
  • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with children and young people.
  • Support children and young people to develop resilience, independence, and life skills.
  • Promote inclusion, equality, and diversity within the home environment.
  • Support children and young people with their routines, education, and interests.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, homely, and stimulating environment.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and care plans.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding policies.
  • Support the home’s environment through cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Manage incidents and de-escalation techniques, including safe restraint when necessary.
  • Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the home and its residents.

Requirements:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification (or willingness to attain).
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a care setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • A caring, empathetic, and professional attitude.
