In this role, you will support adolescents up to the age of 18, helping them develop resilience, confidence, and essential life skills within a safe and nurturing environment. The Residential Support Worker position in Colchester offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of young people while gaining valuable experience in therapeutic child care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish positive, trusting relationships with residents to support their emotional and social development
- Facilitate daily routines, including supporting education, preparing meals, and engaging in recreational activities
- Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies
- Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident forms
- Ensure the home remains a safe and secure space by participating in household tasks such as cooking and cleaning
- Work on a 2-days-on, 4-days-off rota, providing a balanced work-life schedule while ensuring continuity of care for young people
Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence is strictly required for this position
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
- A proactive, energetic attitude with a passion for being a positive role model for young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Right to work in the UK (please note, sponsorship is not available)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or related fields
- Experience working in a residential care setting
