Job Description:
Residential Support Worker opportunities are available in Exeter, supporting young people aged 16 - 18 within a residential care setting. Based in Exeter, you’ll help create a safe, warm, and structured environment where young people aged 16 - 18 can thrive, develop independence, and have their voice heard.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Support Worker based in Exeter, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting young people aged 16 - 18 with their physical, emotional, psychological, educational, recreational, and social needs in line with individual placement plans.
- Promoting choice, independence, and life skills, including routines, personal responsibilities, and positive engagement in education.
- Maintaining a safe environment by following policies, procedures, risk assessments, and responding appropriately to emergencies.
- Completing accurate daily records and administration, including daily journals, handovers, medication tasks, and incident/accident reporting.
- Using positive communication and agreed strategies to ensure young people aged 16 - 18 can express themselves, including alternative communication approaches where required.
- Supporting safe behaviour management, following PBS plans, using de-escalation, and intervening physically only when necessary and appropriate.
- Contributing to a clean, organised home environment and supporting activities, transport, sleep-ins, and lone working as required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people aged 16 - 18.
- Experience supporting young people aged 16 - 18 in a residential or care setting (preferred; not explicitly stated as mandatory).
- Willingness to work a rolling rota, including sleep-in duties and flexibility in working hours.
