Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Truro, offering an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with emotional, social, and mental health difficulties in a warm and caring environment.
As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
- Encouraging children and young people to participate in activities and develop independence suitable to their age and needs
- Maintaining a homely, friendly, and welcoming environment within the children’s home
- Managing challenging behaviours with patience and understanding
- Providing personal care and emotional support where necessary
- Supporting residents’ wellbeing and fostering their independence
- Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all service users
- Keeping up-to-date with individual care plans, guidelines, and reward systems
- Responding safely and sympathetically to challenging behaviours
Requirements:
- Experience working as a Support Worker or in a similar children’s residential setting is desirable
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care, or equivalent qualification (desirable)
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people’s development and wellbeing
- Full driving license is essential, as travel between sites may be required
- Must be over the age of 18
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach
