Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Truro, offering an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with emotional, social, and mental health difficulties in a warm and caring environment.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Encouraging children and young people to participate in activities and develop independence suitable to their age and needs
  • Maintaining a homely, friendly, and welcoming environment within the children’s home
  • Managing challenging behaviours with patience and understanding
  • Providing personal care and emotional support where necessary
  • Supporting residents’ wellbeing and fostering their independence
  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all service users
  • Keeping up-to-date with individual care plans, guidelines, and reward systems
  • Responding safely and sympathetically to challenging behaviours

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Support Worker or in a similar children’s residential setting is desirable
  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care, or equivalent qualification (desirable)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people’s development and wellbeing
  • Full driving license is essential, as travel between sites may be required
  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach
