Youth Support Worker

Salary: From £28,000 per annum (plus optional overtime)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Shift Pattern: 2 Days On, 4 Days Off (8:00 am – 11:00 pm + Sleep-in)


Job Overview

Are you passionate about helping young people transition successfully into adulthood? We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Youth Support Workers to join our Ofsted-regulated semi-independent living homes in Ipswich.

In this role, you will support young people aged 16–18 as they move from care toward independent living. Your mission will be to empower them by building their confidence, resilience, and essential life skills in a safe, supportive environment. This is a unique opportunity to act as a mentor and positive role model during a critical stage of a young person's development.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Path to Independence: Provide practical and emotional support to help young people develop life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing appointments.

  • Education & Employment: Assist residents in accessing and maintaining education, training, or employment opportunities.

  • Relationship Building: Establish positive, professional relationships and conduct meaningful key work sessions to support personal development.

  • Environment & Safety: Maintain a safe, supportive home environment that meets all safeguarding and health & safety standards.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily records and collaborate closely with social workers, health professionals, and educators.

  • Collaborative Care: Contribute to placement reviews and the implementation of individual care plans.


Essential Requirements

  • Licence: A valid UK Driving Licence is strictly required for this position.

  • Attributes: A proactive, energetic attitude and a commitment to being a positive influence.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate young people from various backgrounds.

  • Right to Work: Please note, we are unable to provide sponsorship at this time.

  • Compliance: Successful applicants must undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults in a residential or semi-independent setting.

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3).
