Job Title: Responsible Individual – Children’s Residential Care (Learning Disabilities & EBD)

Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Responsible Individual to join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care services. This senior leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee multiple homes across Brightlingsea, Basildon, and Romford, ensuring high standards of care and full compliance with Ofsted regulations. The Responsible Individual will work closely with the existing leadership team to deliver strategic oversight, promote continuous improvement, and foster a safe, nurturing environment for children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all homes meet and exceed Ofsted standards and regulations
- Support preparation for inspections and address areas of non-compliance
- Provide strategic leadership and develop policies aligned with best practices
- Oversee quality assurance processes, conduct audits, and analyze performance data
- Manage and support Registered Managers, promoting professional development
- Maintain robust safeguarding policies and oversee care planning and outcomes
- Build collaborative relationships with Local Authorities, health professionals, and education providers
- Support budget oversight, resource allocation, and occupancy management
Requirements:
- Significant senior experience within children’s residential care, ideally as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager
- Proven experience working with children with LD and EBD
- In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding practices
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills
- Full UK Driving License
- Relevant qualification in Social Work, Child Care, or a related field (or willingness to work towards one)
