Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Responsible Individual to oversee a children’s residential home in Newhaven, East Sussex. This leadership role involves ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, maintaining high standards of care, and providing strategic governance to support the delivery of safe and effective services for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Responsible Individual based in Newhaven, East Sussex, your daily duties will include:
- Ensuring full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Overseeing safeguarding systems, regulatory notifications, and safeguarding reporting.
- Providing strategic oversight and supervision of the Registered Manager to ensure high-quality care delivery.
- Supporting performance improvement, staffing structures, and safer recruitment practices.
- Acting as the primary governance representative with Ofsted and liaising with external agencies and stakeholders.
- Maintaining oversight of safeguarding thresholds, serious incidents, and risk management.
- Supporting inspection preparation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Responsible Individual, you will need:
- Significant senior experience in children’s social care, preferably within residential settings.
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted frameworks.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Proven safeguarding leadership experience and strong governance skills.
- Ability to demonstrate statutory accountability and regulatory compliance.
