We have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Cardiff.

Working within a well-established Science Department, you'll play an essential role in supporting practical science lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring students have access to a safe, engaging and well-organised learning environment.

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Science Technician, you'll be working closely with teaching staff and fellow technicians to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school's science laboratories.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing practical science lessons by organising equipment, materials and resources to support engaging and effective teaching.

  • Maintaining science laboratories by servicing and organising three laboratories to ensure a safe and efficient learning environment.

  • Supporting Key Stage 3 Science by assisting with practical activities and experiments, particularly for Year 7 and Year 9 pupils.

  • Managing laboratory equipment by checking, cleaning, maintaining and safely storing scientific apparatus and materials.

  • Promoting laboratory safety by following relevant health and safety procedures and supporting safe working practices.

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons run smoothly and pupils have the resources they need.

What Are We Looking For?

We're looking for a reliable, proactive and organised individual who enjoys working as part of a team and has a genuine interest in science and education.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A general science background or a relevant scientific or technical qualification.

  • Experience working in a laboratory, school or similar technical environment.

  • Knowledge of scientific equipment, laboratory procedures and safe working practices.

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • A positive, flexible and proactive approach to supporting teachers and pupils.

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a busy Science Department.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people, including an Enhanced DBS Check.
