Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join a leading specialist independent school located in Meldreth, on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. This SEN Teacher role offers an exciting opportunity to work within an IQM-awarded, NAS-accredited school that provides a highly personalized learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with complex needs. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, child-centered education tailored to students with diverse needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, Autism, ADHD, and sensory or physical impairments. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, individualized lessons for students with complex needs.
- Create a supportive, sensory-aware classroom environment that promotes engagement and learning.
- Collaborate with therapists, class leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic student development.
- Lead and support classroom support staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
- Conduct detailed assessments and maintain accurate progress reports.
- Support students with physical intervention and personal care routines, ensuring dignity and safety.
Requirements:
- PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong understanding of the National Teacher Standards.
- Experience or knowledge of Special Educational Needs, especially sensory-led curriculums.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a specialist team.
- Leadership qualities to guide and support classroom support staff.
