Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join a leading specialist independent school located in Meldreth, on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. This SEN Teacher role offers an exciting opportunity to work within an IQM-awarded, NAS-accredited school that provides a highly personalized learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with complex needs. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, child-centered education tailored to students with diverse needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, Autism, ADHD, and sensory or physical impairments. Join a dedicated team committed to fostering inclusive, supportive, and stimulating learning experiences for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, individualized lessons for students with complex needs.
  • Create a supportive, sensory-aware classroom environment that promotes engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with therapists, class leaders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic student development.
  • Lead and support classroom support staff to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
  • Conduct detailed assessments and maintain accurate progress reports.
  • Support students with physical intervention and personal care routines, ensuring dignity and safety.

Requirements:

  • PGCE, QTS, or an equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Strong understanding of the National Teacher Standards.
  • Experience or knowledge of Special Educational Needs, especially sensory-led curriculums.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a specialist team.
  • Leadership qualities to guide and support classroom support staff.
