Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher – Autism & Complex Needs

Job Description:
A leading specialist provider is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team in Preston. The SEN Teacher will play a vital role in delivering personalised education programmes for young people aged 16-25 with Autism and complex needs. This is an excellent opportunity for passionate educators committed to making a positive impact on students’ lives through engaging, therapeutic, and tailored teaching approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality, personalised session plans and long-term curricula focused on life skills, functional academics, and vocational qualifications (NVQs).
  • Act as a personal tutor to small groups, supporting EHCP outcomes related to independence, resilience, and engagement.
  • Implement therapeutic behaviour management strategies to support students with complex behaviours in a calm and safe environment.
  • Use observation and assessment tools to monitor progress, set challenging targets, and report outcomes to parents and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and care staff, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Engage students in outdoor, therapeutic, and activity-based learning, such as animal therapy and nature-based activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (PGCE, CertEd).
  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Energetic, proactive, creative, and resilient with a genuine passion for special education.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to student safety.
