Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Merthyr Tydfil, Wales
Salary: £92.58 per day (DOE)
Job Description:
An experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant is needed to join a special school in Merthyr Tydfil. This role offers the opportunity to support learners with ASD, PDA, PMLD, Global Delay Disorder, and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a positive impact on children with additional needs and eager to work in a dynamic educational environment. The SEN Teaching Assistant role in Merthyr Tydfil provides flexible hours, weekly pay, and a variety of work settings across primary, secondary, and SEN schools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and supervise learners with ASD, PDA, PMLD, Global Delay Disorder, or challenging behaviour
- Assist learners at the start and end of the school day
- Help staff prepare classrooms for lessons
- Work with learners in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
- Support the delivery of lessons alongside the class teacher
- Assist learners during break times and lunchtime
- Engage learners with classroom and out-of-classroom activities
- Follow the school's behaviour management policies
Requirements:
- At least 3 months of experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings; SEN experience is beneficial
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) (support available)
- References covering the last two years (no gaps)
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
