Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant based in Ystrad Mynach, your daily duties will include:
- Providing tailored, specialist support to pupils with PMLD, fostering their development and well-being
- Assisting with personal care and communication strategies, including objects of reference, touch cues, and sensory approaches
- Implementing highly differentiated, multi-sensory learning activities to engage pupils and support their individual progress
- Collaborating closely with the Class Teacher and external professionals such as therapists to create an inclusive and positive learning environment
- Supporting the development of life skills and promoting independence among pupils
- Helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, especially PMLD, is advantageous
- Knowledge of communication methods such as sensory approaches, objects of reference, and touch cues
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting inclusive education
