Job Description:
SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities are available in Caerphilly, supporting learners within a specialist school setting. Working with a leading specialist education provider, you’ll help children and young people with a range of additional learning needs to thrive in a structured, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant based in Caerphilly, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting and supervising learners with ASD, PDA, PMLD, Global Delay Disorder, and challenging behaviour
- Assisting learners at the start and end of the school day to ensure safe, calm transitions
- Preparing classrooms for lessons and supporting teaching staff with lesson delivery
- Working with learners in small groups or 1:1 to meet individual learning and care needs
- Supporting learners during break times and lunchtimes, promoting inclusion and engagement
- Encouraging participation in classroom and out-of-classroom activities
- Following behaviour management policies and promoting positive behaviour within the Caerphilly school environment
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Minimum 3 months’ experience working with children in schools, nurseries, or childcare settings (SEN experience is beneficial)
- Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration (support available)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
- References covering the last two years (no gaps)
- Right to work in the UK
