Job Description:
We are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming special school in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf for a September start. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with complex learning difficulties within a nurturing, inclusive setting, working closely with an experienced education team.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant based in Aberdare, your daily duties will include:
- Providing general classroom support to help pupils access learning and stay engaged
- Working alongside the Class Teacher to support inclusive, structured lesson delivery
- Supporting children with very complex learning difficulties, adapting approaches to individual needs
- Assisting with behavioural and emotional support strategies to promote positive outcomes
- Helping to maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment for all pupils
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers in Aberdare
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- Previous experience supporting children with complex learning needs and/or challenging behaviours
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Patience, resilience, and adaptability in a fast-paced classroom environment
- Relevant qualifications in education, SEND, or childcare (desirable)
