Job Description:
Join our dedicated education team at a leading SEN Community in Cranleigh, Surrey, as a SEN Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role involves supporting students aged 5-19 with complex learning disabilities and social communication difficulties, helping them access therapy-based education and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant based in Cranleigh, Surrey, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting small classes of 8-13 students with diverse needs, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and daily living skills.
- Assisting students in communication using Makaton, signs, symbols, or communication aids through a multi-sensory approach.
- Providing emotional and behavioural support, helping students manage feelings of anxiety, frustration, or emotional distress.
- Working collaboratively within a skilled team, participating in ongoing training and development programmes.
- Supporting students with personal care needs, following full training provided.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:
- No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills and patience to support children with complex behaviours.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning and complete documentation.
- Empathy, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to provide personal care for students when necessary.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
