Job Description:
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a leading special school in the Wirral. This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, providing personalised support to help them develop their learning, communication, independence, confidence, and life skills. You will contribute to creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where every pupil is valued and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant based in the Wirral, your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties to access the curriculum and develop essential skills.
  • Assisting teachers in planning and delivering personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote their emotional and social development.
  • Monitoring and recording pupils’ progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages pupils’ independence and confidence.

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • A relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, ideally within a special education setting.
  • Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a commitment to safeguarding.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and resilience.
  • Ability to adapt approaches to meet individual pupil needs and work effectively as part of a team.
