Job Description:
Join a dedicated team supporting children and young people aged 5–19 with complex learning disabilities and social communication difficulties at a specialist SEN community setting in Cranleigh, Surrey. Key Responsibilities:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant based in Cranleigh, your daily duties will include:
- Supporting small classes of 8–13 students with diverse needs, including communication and behavioural challenges.
- Assisting with literacy, numeracy, and daily living skills to promote independence.
- Using communication tools such as Makaton, signs, symbols, or communication aids within a multi-sensory approach.
- Providing emotional and behavioural support, helping students manage anxiety, frustration, or distress.
- Working collaboratively within a skilled team, participating in ongoing training and development.
- Supporting students with personal care needs, with full training provided.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant in Cranleigh, you will need:
- A compassionate and resilient attitude with a genuine desire to support children with SEN.
- Literacy and numeracy skills to support student learning and complete records.
- Strong communication skills with children, families, and professionals.
- Patience and calmness when supporting students with complex needs.
