Location: Illminster, Somerset, South West (TA19 area)
Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum (+ £46.01 per sleep-in + up to £1,400 attendance bonus)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week)
Job Description:
We are recruiting a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a supportive children’s home team in Illminster, Somerset. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help create a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people, supporting their wellbeing, routines, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker based in Illminster, your daily duties will include:
- Safeguarding children and promoting their wellbeing in line with Ofsted standards and internal procedures
- Providing practical day-to-day support including cooking, cleaning, and encouraging independence (e.g., budgeting and shopping)
- Building positive, consistent relationships and acting as a calm, reliable role model during challenging situations
- Supporting children to access education, appointments, and activities, including transport where required in Illminster and surrounding areas
- Completing accurate records and reports, and liaising with managers, social workers, and other professionals
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- Willingness to work towards QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (fully funded)
- Experience supporting children/young people in a care, residential, or similarly structured setting (desirable)
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential due to location)
- Ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins (typically 1–2 per week)
- Successful completion of safer recruitment checks in line with Ofsted requirements
