About the Position:
Our client, a national provider of children's residential care, is looking for a dedicated Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join their team in a beautiful rural setting just off the M4 in Cardiff. You will support the manager in the daily operations of a service caring for young people aged 10-16 with EBD, helping create a safe, nurturing, and growth-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by example and assist management with shift operations
- Mentor and support new staff members
- Encourage young people to engage in activities and develop independence
- Maintain a positive, homely environment
- Manage challenging behaviours with professionalism and empathy
- Protect children and promote their health, safety, and well-being
- Support young people’s personal development and independence
- Keep the environment safe and adhere to care plans and guidelines
- Build respectful relationships with staff, families, social workers, and external professionals
Candidate Requirements:
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People (Essential)
- Proven experience working in a residential children’s home (Essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car (Essential, for transporting young people)
- Strong leadership and managerial skills
- Compassionate attitude and commitment to high-quality care
- Ability to handle challenging situations professionally
Salary & Benefits:
- Starting salary of £32,090 to £36,313.60 (sleep allowance included)
