We are recruiting for a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider of children’s residential care in Wisbech.
This role offers a fantastic chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people aged 8 to 18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). You will support the home’s management team in running a nurturing and structured environment, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of every child. Enjoy a role where you can lead by example, mentor staff, and contribute to a positive, homely atmosphere — all while engaging in fun activities like gaming and trips to theme parks!
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the shifts alongside the management team to provide high-quality care
- Mentor and supervise new and less experienced staff members
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and develop independence skills appropriate to their age
- Maintain a warm, friendly, and homely environment within the home
- Manage challenging behaviours effectively and safely
- Protect young people from health and safety risks
- Support children and young people to achieve their personal goals and promote their well-being
- Keep the environment safe and secure, ensuring adherence to individual care plans and policies
- Build positive relationships with social workers, families, and multi-disciplinary professionals
- Support the development of young people's independence and life skills
What we’re looking for:
- NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People (ESSENTIAL)
- Proven experience working within a residential children’s home environment (ESSENTIAL)
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car (ESSENTIAL), as transportation may be required
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours with sensitivity and professionalism
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with EBD and making a positive impact
