Location: Crediton, Devon, UK

Salary: £33,176 - £40,456 per annum (including sleep-ins)

Job Description:

Are you a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker looking for a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference? Join a leading specialist provider of children's residential care in Crediton, offering a supportive environment to help children and young people aged 8-16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a full-time, permanent position within a modern semi-independent residential home.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive atmosphere for residents, empowering them to develop socially, emotionally, and practically. Working a shift pattern of 9 am - 10 pm (followed by a sleep-in) and 7 am - 9 am, you'll be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage Independence & Development: Support children and young people in developing life skills and engaging in meaningful activities to promote their independence.
  • Maintain a Supportive Environment: Act as a positive role model, fostering a homely and friendly atmosphere within the home.
  • Manage Challenging Behaviours: Confidently support residents through difficult behaviours, de-escalating situations with empathy and experience.
  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Uphold safeguarding standards, maintain detailed care plans, and contribute to risk assessments to protect residents’ wellbeing.
  • Promote Well-being: Provide tailored support to address residents' emotional and practical needs, enhancing their overall quality of life.
  • Build Relationships & Collaborate: Work closely with staff, external professionals, parents, and social workers, often leading in communication efforts.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Support and mentor less experienced team members, sharing your knowledge to develop team skills.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete reports, logs, and documentation to support care planning, reviews, and audits.

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking compassionate, resilient individuals with leadership qualities who are eager to advance their careers and positively impact young lives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Children’s Residential Support Worker or similar role working with young people with EBD
  • Full UK Driving License (transportation of residents is a key part of the role)
  • Over the age of 21
  • Ability to reliably commute to Crediton
  • QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

Benefits of Joining Our Team:

  • Fully Funded QCF Level 4 Children & Young People Qualification: Enhance your skillset with a recognized qualification, paving the way for future leadership roles.
  • Company Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our employer-matched pension contributions.
  • 28 Days Annual Leave: Ample time off to relax and recharge.
  • Comprehensive Training & CPD: Regular face-to-face training sessions, ongoing professional development, and opportunities for advanced workshops.
  • Career Progression Opportunities: Numerous pathways to increase earnings and progress into senior or specialist roles.
  • Enhanced Disclosure Cost Coverage: We cover the cost of your DBS check.

If you're a passionate and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker ready to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people aged 8-16 with EBD, we want to hear from you! Apply today and join a dedicated team committed to providing exceptional care.

Chris at Vetro has been incredible.

I applied for a role I'd never done before, and not only did he help with my application process, but once I was offered an interview, he spent time ensuring I was sufficiently prepared. He has also made an once-a-week update meeting available to check on my onboarding process. If you're looking for work and support, I'd highly recommend Vetro Recruitment.
