Location: Frome, Wiltshire, BA11 area
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time (Permanent)

Job Description:

Residential Childcare Practitioner roles are available in Frome, Wiltshire, supporting children and young people who have experienced significant trauma within small, nurturing residential homes. You’ll join a close-knit team focused on creating safe, stable, therapeutic environments where children can build confidence and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Residential Childcare Practitioner based in Frome, your daily duties will include:

• Providing consistent emotional and practical support tailored to each child’s needs
• Building trusting, therapeutic relationships and acting as a positive role model
• Supporting routines including school runs, activities, and family contact (using home vehicles)
• Planning and delivering recreational and educational activities that promote development
• Maintaining a welcoming home environment (cooking, cleaning, and general household tasks)
• Completing daily records, logs, and health & safety checks accurately
• Working collaboratively with social workers, educators, and other professionals
• Working a 24-hour shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins

Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful as a Residential Childcare Practitioner, you will need:

• Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
• Aged 21+ (essential)
• A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
• Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins
• Strong communication skills and confidence maintaining accurate records
• Desirable: Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care (or equivalent), and/or experience in trauma-informed approaches (e.g., PACE, DDP)
