Job Title: Residential Childcare Practitioner

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Description:
Residential Childcare Practitioner roles are available in Frome, Wiltshire, supporting children and young people who have experienced significant trauma within small, nurturing residential homes. You’ll join a close-knit team focused on creating safe, stable, therapeutic environments where children can build confidence and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Residential Childcare Practitioner based in Frome, your daily duties will include:
- Providing consistent emotional and practical support tailored to each child’s needs
- Building trusting, therapeutic relationships and acting as a positive role model
- Supporting routines including school runs, activities, and family contact (using home vehicles)
- Planning and delivering recreational and educational activities that promote development
- Maintaining a welcoming home environment (cooking, cleaning, and general household tasks)
- Completing daily records, logs, and health & safety checks accurately
- Working collaboratively with social workers, educators, and other professionals
- Working a 24-hour shift pattern including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Residential Childcare Practitioner, you will need:
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)
- Aged 21+ (essential)
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Flexibility to work shifts including weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins
- Strong communication skills and confidence maintaining accurate records
- Desirable: Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care (or equivalent), and/or experience in trauma-informed approaches (e.g., PACE, DDP)
