Job Title: Senior Residential Support Worker - Children and Young People
Location: Bracknell, Berkshire
Salary: Starting at £31,000 per annum + sleep-in allowance (£2,600 - £5,200 per year based on 1-2 sleep-in duties weekly)
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider committed to delivering high-quality care for children and young people aged eight to eighteen years. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on young lives by providing nurturing, therapeutic care in a supportive environment. The Senior Residential Support Worker will play a vital role in promoting safety, well-being, and development, ensuring each young person reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recognise, respond to, record, and refer safeguarding concerns in line with policies.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people at all times.
- Work in accordance with individual risk assessments and behavioural support plans.
- Use therapeutic parenting techniques such as Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE).
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and young people.
- Support children and young people to build healthy relationships within the home, family, and community.
- Promote inclusion, equal opportunities, and challenge discrimination.
- Advocate for children and young people, helping them express their views and wishes.
- Support children and young people with daily routines, education, and activities.
- Contribute to creating a warm, safe, and homely environment.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and risk assessments.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and external agency liaising.
- Support and mentor Residential Support Workers and carry out Key Worker duties.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development.
- Manage health and safety, including environmental and fire regulations.
- Participate in on-call duties and flexible working hours to meet the needs of young people.
Requirements:
- Proven experience caring for children and young people in a residential setting.
- Knowledge of trauma, attachment, and safeguarding procedures.
- Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Strong communication, safeguarding, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and demonstrate emotional resilience.
- GCSE Grades C and above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Enhanced DBS check for adults and children.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of The Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and related guidance.
- Experience applying therapeutic parenting techniques (PACE).
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including sleep-in duties.
