Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker – Children & Young People Residential Care
Location: Abertillery, NP13, Wales
Salary: £31,800 - £34,000 (including sleep allowance)

Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a leading specialist provider as a Senior Children's Support Worker in Abertillery. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people aged 8 to 18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting young people to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally within a safe and caring setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and support the management team during shifts
  • Mentor and support new staff members
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their lives
  • Maintain a homely, friendly environment within the residential setting
  • Manage challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Support young people’s independence and well-being
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of individual care plans and communication methods
  • Develop positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or in a similar role supporting young people
  • Experience within healthcare or social care settings
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent
  • Full UK driver’s license (due to job activities)
  • Passionate about supporting young people and making a difference
