Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum (+ £46.01 per sleep-in + up to £1,400 attendance bonus)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week)
Job Description:
We are recruiting a Senior Residential Support Worker to join a supportive children’s home team in Cheddar. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children aged 5–12 thrive in a safe, nurturing environment while building confidence and life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Residential Support Worker based in Cheddar, your daily duties will include:
- Safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and young people in care, in line with Ofsted standards and internal procedures.
- Providing practical day-to-day support including cooking, cleaning, routines, and encouraging independence (e.g., budgeting and shopping).
- Supporting children to engage in education, hobbies, and community activities, including transporting them to school and appointments in and around Cheddar.
- Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a consistent role model, setting clear boundaries and supporting emotional and behavioural needs.
- Completing accurate records and reports, and liaising with managers, social workers, and other professionals.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- A willingness to work towards a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (fully funded).
- Experience supporting children/young people in a care, residential, or similarly challenging setting (desirable).
- A Full UK Driving Licence (essential due to location and transport requirements).
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and complete sleep-ins (typically 1–2 per week).
