Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to join a reputable residential children’s home in Stoke-on-Trent. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a passionate team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs. Working within a supportive environment, you will help deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care that promotes safety, stability, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Team Leader based in Stoke-on-Trent, your daily duties will include:
- Leading shifts and supporting the team to deliver high-quality care in line with individual care plans
- Providing supervision, guidance, and support to residential care staff
- Overseeing and contributing to the development and review of care plans, ensuring trauma-informed and consistent care
- Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with daily operations and home standards
- Promoting safeguarding procedures and ensuring all staff follow policies and address concerns effectively
- Building strong relationships with professionals, families, and external agencies
- Supporting the training, mentoring, and development of staff members
- Contributing to home maintenance, record keeping, budgets, and reporting systems
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Team Leader in Stoke-on-Trent, you will need:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in residential childcare
- Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
- Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legal frameworks
- Ability to lead by example, act as a role model, and maintain professional boundaries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Resilience, motivation, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins
Desirable:
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of residential childcare regulations and quality standards
- Strong team management and leadership capabilities
