Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to join a reputable residential children’s home in Stoke-on-Trent. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a passionate team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs. Working within a supportive environment, you will help deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care that promotes safety, stability, and development.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Team Leader based in Stoke-on-Trent, your daily duties will include:

  • Leading shifts and supporting the team to deliver high-quality care in line with individual care plans
  • Providing supervision, guidance, and support to residential care staff
  • Overseeing and contributing to the development and review of care plans, ensuring trauma-informed and consistent care
  • Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with daily operations and home standards
  • Promoting safeguarding procedures and ensuring all staff follow policies and address concerns effectively
  • Building strong relationships with professionals, families, and external agencies
  • Supporting the training, mentoring, and development of staff members
  • Contributing to home maintenance, record keeping, budgets, and reporting systems

Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Team Leader in Stoke-on-Trent, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in residential childcare
  • Strong understanding of child development and trauma-informed practice
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or working towards it)
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legal frameworks
  • Ability to lead by example, act as a role model, and maintain professional boundaries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Resilience, motivation, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-ins

Desirable:

  • Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Knowledge of residential childcare regulations and quality standards
  • Strong team management and leadership capabilities
