Job Description:
We are seeking dedicated Senior Residential Support Workers to join our children’s home near Abergavenny. This role involves supporting up to four young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties within a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment. Our home offers a homely setting with extensive grounds, comfortable bedrooms, and communal spaces designed to promote well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Residential Support Worker based in Abergavenny, your daily duties will include:
- Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team, including shift leading responsibilities.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of young people by adhering to statutory requirements, health and safety policies, and risk assessments.
- Supporting young people’s personal development through therapeutic and supportive interactions.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to care plans and daily activities.
Requirements & Qualifications:
To be successful as a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will need:
- Essential Qualification: QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year working in a care setting, preferably with children or young people.
- Mandatory Compliance: Full UK manual driving licence, Enhanced DBS check, and registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register within 6 months).
- Passion for making a positive difference in young people’s lives.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and sleep-in duties.
- Basic IT skills and understanding of health, safety, and risk assessments.
