Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a leading specialist provider as a Senior Children’s Support Worker in a modern, well-established residential children’s home in Newton Abbot.
We are seeking enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and want to contribute to the development and well-being of young people aged 8-18 facing Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role offers a rewarding career path supporting young people to achieve social, emotional, and behavioural growth in a safe, caring environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Encouraging young people to participate in activities and develop responsibility suitable to their age.
- Maintaining a warm, friendly, and homely environment within the home.
- Supporting children and young people with challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically.
- Promoting independence and well-being while supporting their individual needs.
- Ensuring the safety and protection of young people at all times.
- Keeping up-to-date with care plans, risk assessments, reward systems, and communication preferences.
- Building positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals such as psychologists.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or working with young people (desirable but not essential).
- Experience in healthcare or social care settings (desirable but not essential).
- A full UK driving licence, as transportation of young people may be required.
- Ability to work flexible hours with shift patterns including sleep-ins (16-24 hours shifts, on a 1-2 or 2-4 basis).
- Be over the age of 21 and able to commute to Newton Abbot.
