Job Description:

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives? An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a leading specialist provider as a Senior Children’s Support Worker in a modern, well-established residential children’s home in Newton Abbot.

We are seeking enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated individuals who thrive in dynamic environments and want to contribute to the development and well-being of young people aged 8-18 facing Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role offers a rewarding career path supporting young people to achieve social, emotional, and behavioural growth in a safe, caring environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Encouraging young people to participate in activities and develop responsibility suitable to their age.
  • Maintaining a warm, friendly, and homely environment within the home.
  • Supporting children and young people with challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically.
  • Promoting independence and well-being while supporting their individual needs.
  • Ensuring the safety and protection of young people at all times.
  • Keeping up-to-date with care plans, risk assessments, reward systems, and communication preferences.
  • Building positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals such as psychologists.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or working with young people (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience in healthcare or social care settings (desirable but not essential).
  • A full UK driving licence, as transportation of young people may be required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with shift patterns including sleep-ins (16-24 hours shifts, on a 1-2 or 2-4 basis).
  • Be over the age of 21 and able to commute to Newton Abbot.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary with sleep-in payments.
  • Opportunities to develop your career with fully funded QCF Level 4 Children & Young People qualification.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • 28 days annual leave.
  • Comprehensive training including ongoing face-to-face and CPD.
  • Fun perks such as paid activities including bike rides and theme park visits.
  • Opportunities to maximise earnings and career progression.
  • Enhanced disclosure cost coverage.

If you are passionate about supporting young people with EBD and want to build a meaningful career within health and social care, we want to hear from you!

Chris at Vetro has been incredible.

I applied for a role I'd never done before, and not only did he help with my application process, but once I was offered an interview, he spent time ensuring I was sufficiently prepared. He has also made an once-a-week update meeting available to check on my onboarding process. If you're looking for work and support, I'd highly recommend Vetro Recruitment.
