Job Description:
Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people's lives? We are working with a leading specialist provider operating a modern and welcoming residential children’s home in Newton Abbot. They are seeking a dedicated and resilient Senior Support Worker to join their team and support children and young people aged 8-18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and develop responsibility appropriate to their age
- Maintain a warm, homely, and welcoming environment within the home
- Manage challenging behaviours safely and empathetically
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
- Provide tailored support to promote independence and overall well-being
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with staff, families, social workers, and other professionals such as psychologists
- Support young people in accordance with their individual care plans and communication needs
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all young residents by adhering to care guidelines, care plans, and reward systems
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Children’s Support Worker or in a related young people’s role is desirable but not essential
- Background in healthcare or social care environments is advantageous
- Must hold a full UK driving licence, as some transportation of young people may be required
- Must be over 21 years of age
- Ability to commute to Newton Abbot
- Enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated individuals passionate about supporting young people with EBD
- A genuine desire to make a positive impact in young people's lives and promote their development socially, emotionally, and behaviourally

Shift Pattern:
- 16 to 24-hour shifts, including sleep-ins
