Salary: £33,715.50+ per annum (depending on qualifications) + £250 starting bonus (with transferable DBS)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (average 40 hours per week, shift-based)
Job Description
We are recruiting a Children’s Senior Support Worker to join a children’s residential home setting in Taunton, Somerset. This is a hands-on, rewarding role supporting young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs, within a safe and nurturing environment.
You’ll work as part of a supportive team, with fully funded training to help you develop confidence and progress your career.
Key Responsibilities
As a Children’s Senior Support Worker based in Taunton, your daily duties will include:
- Supervising and monitoring the safety and wellbeing of children in the home and in the community
- Supporting young people with routines, hygiene, meals, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment
- Acting as a positive role model and promoting resilience, empathy, and positive behaviours
- Supporting young people to attend education, appointments, activities, and family visits (driving required)
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a Children’s Senior Support Worker, you will need:
- Minimum age 21 (due to regulatory requirements)
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Ability to work a rota including days, waking nights, and weekends
- Enhanced DBS check (required; funded by the employer). A transferable DBS (children and adults) is beneficial for the starting bonus
- Experience in residential childcare or a support environment (preferred)
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (preferred)
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
