Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Support Worker in this organisation, your key duties will include:
- Assisting management in running the home smoothly and developing therapeutic services
- Ensuring safeguarding and safety of children and staff at all times
- Building strong, empathetic relationships with young people, their families, and professionals
- Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team
- Supporting team development and addressing vicarious trauma
- Engaging in fun, community-based activities to promote social inclusion
- Assisting with practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care
- Maintaining detailed, reflective records evidencing progress and safeguarding
- Complying with all health and safety standards, policies, and legislation
- Upholding attachment-based and trauma-informed care approaches consistently
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in Children’s Residential Social Care or similar environment
- Strong understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and therapeutic approaches
- Effective leadership, communication, and nurturing skills
- Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare or willingness to attain
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation
- Clear DBS check and positive references
- Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and appropriate boundaries
