Your Role as a Senior Support Worker:
In this pivotal role, you will lead, inspire, and support your team while providing exceptional care to young people. You will be instrumental in creating a safe, nurturing space, promoting therapeutic growth and stability. Your daily tasks will include:
- Assisting management in running the home smoothly and developing therapeutic services.
- Ensuring safeguarding and safety of children and staff at all times.
- Building strong, empathetic relationships with young people, their families, and professionals.
- Acting as a positive role model and leader within the team.
- Supporting team development and addressing vicarious trauma.
- Engaging in fun, community-based activities to promote social inclusion.
- Assisting with practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
- Maintaining detailed, reflective records evidencing progress and safeguarding.
- Complying with all health and safety standards, policies, and legislation.
- Upholding attachment-based and trauma-informed care approaches consistently.
Skills and Qualifications Needed:
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in Children’s Residential Social Care or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and therapeutic approaches.
- Effective leadership, communication, and nurturing skills.
- Level 3 NVQ in Residential Childcare or willingness to attain.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
- Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and relevant legislation.
- Clear DBS check and positive references.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and appropriate boundaries.
