Supervising Social Worker
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Social Worker who can also take on the essential role of Form F Assessor, to join our dedicated team supporting foster carers and transforming the lives of vulnerable children and young people across the North West.
In this dual role, you’ll be a vital link between foster families and the children they care for—ensuring each placement is safe, nurturing, and stable—while also playing a key part in the recruitment and assessment of new foster carers. Your responsibilities will span supporting current carers through regular supervision, training, and advocacy, as well as undertaking comprehensive Form F assessments to evaluate the suitability of prospective foster carers.
With manageable caseloads and a strong team ethos, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact through both support and assessment—helping us grow our carer network while maintaining the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and supervise foster carers to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.
- Undertake Form F assessments of prospective foster carers in line with statutory and organisational requirements.
- Write clear, comprehensive, evidence-based Form F reports, presenting them to panel as required.
- Maintain regular contact with carers and young people through home visits and check-ins.
- Act as a safeguarding lead, prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of children.
- Contribute to foster carer and social worker training and development programmes.
- Liaise with clinical teams to arrange tailored support services, from therapy to specialist interventions.
- Promote best practices and contribute to the continued development of our fostering service.
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota, providing emergency support and advice to foster carers.
- Provide expert guidance and emotional support to foster carers, helping them grow in confidence and ability.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.
- Qualified with a BA or MA in Social Work.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Experienced in working with children affected by trauma and complex needs.
- Knowledgeable and confident in completing Form F assessments and presenting to panel.
- A confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
- Energetic, empathetic, and solutions-focused.
- In possession of a full UK driving licence and eligible to work in the UK.
