Are you a dedicated care professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? We are seeking a passionate Senior Support Worker to join a leading specialist provider in residential care. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting young people with EBD/SEMH needs, providing stability, safety, and encouragement to help them thrive. The Senior Support Worker role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills within a supportive environment, working in small-scale residential settings in Leeds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and management of shifts, ensuring the safety and well-being of young people.
- Mentor and support Residential Workers, ensuring care plans are followed and professional standards are maintained.
- Use PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and Team Teach strategies to promote positive behavior and self-control among young people.
- Advocate for educational engagement, supporting attendance and participation in learning activities.
- Maintain vigilance over safeguarding protocols, adhering to all risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (completed or at least 50% through the qualification).
- Proven experience working with young people with EBD/SEMH needs in residential settings.
- Leadership skills with the confidence to manage shifts and support colleagues.
- Strong communication, IT, and administrative skills, with knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as part of a shift rota.
- A manual driving license is highly desirable.
