Salary: £31,126 per annum + £44.86 per sleep-in + £1,400 annual attendance bonus
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join a residential children’s home in Bicester, Oxfordshire. As a Senior Support Worker in Bicester, you will help create a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment for children who require specialist support. This Senior Support Worker role is a key milestone in young people’s lives, combining shift leadership with high standards of care and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Support Worker shift leadership in Bicester, ensuring the daily routine supports education, health, and leisure activities
- Mentor and coach residential support workers, acting as a role model and supporting effective shift handovers
- Maintain on-shift accountability by delegating tasks, managing shift plans, and escalating any immediate safety or operational issues
- Support the development, implementation, and review of individualised care plans, risk assessments, and positive behaviour strategies
- Uphold safeguarding vigilance by reporting and documenting concerns and incidents promptly
- Use digital care systems to complete accurate daily logs, incident reports, and medication administration records
Requirements:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or an equivalent qualification in the Children and Young People’s Workforce)
- A Full UK Driving Licence is strictly required for this Senior Support Worker position in Bicester
- Proven experience working in a children’s residential setting
- Strong understanding of positive behaviour support, safeguarding procedures, and national care standards
- Calm, composed leadership when managing challenging behaviours or crisis situations
- Clear written and verbal communication for logs, reports, and handovers
- High emotional resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
